Robards, Jason, Sr.
(1892-1963)
   Born in Hillsdale, Michigan, Jason Nelson Robards trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. His noted Broadway performances were in Lightnin' (1918), Spite Corner (1922), and The Disenchanted* (1958). He spent most of his career in character roles in over 200 motion pictures beginning in 1921. Late in his career, Robards also appeared in television* dramas. He was the father of actor Jason Robards Jr.* and the grandfather of actors Sam and Jake Robards.
